I have almost three decades of experience in Procurement, including eight years in executive positions in the USA. I have assumed responsibility for various Procurement functions at companies such as AGCO Corp ($14 bn.), Benteler ($8bn.), and ThyssenKrupp ($40 bn.) and have specialized in developing, transforming, and leading international Procurement organizations. Since 2017, I have supported and led companies as an Interim Manager and provided guidance as a Senior Management Advisor to the Boards. My motto: Get your hands dirty and only leave an organization with a measurable implementation.
As a hands-on practitioner with a strategic vision, I know the day-to-day business and the requirements for future-proof, digital, sustainable, agile, and risk-aware Procurement. My goal has always been to build a Procurement function that delivers added value above and beyond expectations. I promote and shape change, remain consistent, and lend a hand. Humans are still the most critical success factor in Procurement, and they are at the heart of everything I do, whether in cost-cutting projects, organizational development, category and supplier management, or implementing legal requirements. As a team leader, I attach great importance to working together as partners, integrating people into the development process early, and promoting intercultural cooperation across functional and company boundaries. I have repeatedly transformed competing, fragmented silos into high-performance teams (“ONE Procurement”).
I am still an avid globetrotter and like to explore the world with my backpack; I enjoy going to concerts with friends and finding balance through various sports, an interest in contemporary history, and motorcycling. As a fan of the Cologne Soccer Team, I know the small step from euphoria to doomsday, but I have been a loyal fan for 45 years now. A long time in Procurement makes you resilient on many levels.
